Why the rules are short

2NIGHT is a one-night dating app for iPhone that shows who is out near you tonight, so you can match and meet the same evening instead of chatting for days. It puts strangers in the same bar on a few hours' notice. That only works if everyone can trust that the person in the feed is real, is an adult, and will take a “no” as an answer. Six rules cover that; the rest is enforcement, and enforcement is what this page is mostly about.

What is checked automatically — and what is not

When you save your bio (150 characters at most) it is checked against a short list of prohibited terms and refused if it matches. That is the only automatic content check on profiles, and it is deliberately narrow: it catches the worst slurs and will not catch anything clever. Messages are not read by anyone at 2NIGHT and are not scanned for abuse. The one check on messages looks for phone numbers, social handles, emails and links; it is a membership rule about when contact details can be exchanged, not a safety filter.

Which is why the sixth rule is the important one. A word list cannot tell that someone made you uncomfortable. You can, in two taps.

How reporting works

Open a profile and tap the shield, or open the ⋯ menu at the top of a chat and choose Report. Pick one of three reasons — inappropriate content, fake or scam, or harassment — and it is sent. Your report goes into a queue that only our safety reviewer can read; no member, including you, can read it back, and the person you reported is never told who filed. We read the queue every day, aim to act within 24 hours and always act within 72. The outcome is one of three: the account is removed (it disappears from the feed, likes and plans, is signed out and can no longer message or ping anyone), the account is warned (the report stays on its record), or the report is closed because nothing was broken. A closed report is never held against you; we would rather you over-report than sit on something.

If you think we got a decision wrong — a removal or a warning, yours or someone else's — email safety@2night.co from the address on your account. Decisions are made by people, and we reverse our mistakes.

How blocking works

Block from the same two places. A block is instant, silent and works both ways: you leave each other's Tonight feed, pings stop, a shared upcoming plan drops one of you, and the conversation leaves both inboxes. Nobody is notified. Every block is listed under Settings → Safety & privacy with an Unblock button, so a block is never something you have to email us to undo.

Plans, calls and albums

Plans are public invitations. Give a real venue and a real time; a plan that names a private address or asks people to pay outside the App Store breaks rule four and will be removed. Hosts can remove a member from their plan; a plan that includes someone you have blocked simply shows as unavailable, and the app never says why.

Video calls are two minutes, peer-to-peer, and only ever between matched members. Recording a call, or a person, without consent breaks rule five. Private albums (a Gold and Platinum Black feature) can be viewed a limited number of times by the person you send them to; sharing someone's album further, or sending one to a person who did not ask for it, breaks rule five too — and rule two's ban on nudity applies inside albums exactly as it does on profiles.

Under 18

The age selector starts at 18 and 2NIGHT does not verify age beyond what you declare, so we rely on you. If you believe an account belongs to a minor, report it with “fake or scam” and email safety@2night.co so it is looked at first. Accounts we believe to be underage are removed, and if a report describes a credible threat to someone's safety we pass it to law enforcement.

How long reports are kept

Open reports are kept until decided. Reports closed without action are deleted after 90 days. For reports we acted on, the attached evidence is erased after 12 months and the report itself after 24, counted from the day we decided. If you delete your account, reports you filed are unlinked from you; reports about you stay on that schedule so nobody can wipe their record by re-registering.
