Safety
The rules, and what we do about them.
2NIGHT puts strangers in the same room on a few hours' notice. That only works if the rules are clear and somebody actually enforces them. Here are the rules, exactly how to report or block someone, and exactly what happens after you do.
The rules
Real people only
2NIGHT is for real people going out tonight. One account, and it's yours. No bots, no agencies, no accounts run on someone else's behalf.
Be who you say you are
Your own photos, your own age, your own name. No impersonating anyone — not a celebrity, not a friend, not someone who doesn't exist.
Respect. A pass is just a pass
No harassment, no hate, no threats, no pressure. If someone passes on you or stops replying, that's the whole answer. Take it and move on.
18 and over. No exceptions
2NIGHT is strictly for adults. If we believe an account belongs to someone under 18, we remove it. If you think a minor is on 2NIGHT, tell us immediately.
Keep it clothed
No nudity and no sexually explicit content — not in your photos, not in your bio, not in a plan, and not sent to someone who didn't ask for it.
Nothing for sale
No escorting or solicitation, no scams, no asking members for money, gifts or crypto. No spam, no promotion, no recruiting people to another app.
What we check automatically
When you save your bio, we check it against a list of prohibited terms and refuse the save if it matches. It is a deliberately narrow tool: it catches the worst slurs and it will not catch anything clever.
We want to be straight with you about the limits of that. We do not scan the contents of your messages for abuse. There is a check on messages that looks for phone numbers, social handles and links — but that is a membership rule about when contact details can be exchanged, not a safety filter, and it never looks for abusive language. Nobody at 2NIGHT reads your chats.
Which is exactly why reporting matters. A word list cannot tell that someone made you uncomfortable. You can.
How to report someone
Open their profile and tap the shield. You'll be asked to pick one of three reasons: inappropriate content, fake or scam, or harassment. That's the whole flow — pick one and it's sent.
You can also report from inside a conversation: the ⋯ menu at the top of a chat has Report in it.
Right now you report a person, not an individual message, plan or photo. If one specific thing is the problem, report the person and then email safety@2night.co saying which conversation or plan it was, so we know where to look.
How to block someone
Blocking is in the same two places as reporting — their profile, and the ⋯ menu in a chat. When you report from a profile, we offer to block in the same step.
A block is instant, silent and works both ways. They are not notified and there is no announcement. From that moment you are gone from each other's Tonight feed, no ping from them reaches you, you drop off each other's plans, and the conversation leaves both inboxes.
If you were both going to the same upcoming plan, blocking takes one of you off the list — them, normally, or you if the plan was theirs. Past plans are left alone.
Blocking is reversible. Everyone you have blocked is listed in the app at Settings → Safety & privacy, each with an Unblock button. One tap and it's undone. Nobody has to email us to take a block back.
What happens after you report
Your report lands in our safety queue the moment you send it, timestamped. The queue is ordered oldest open report first, it shows how long each one has been waiting, and it flags anything that has sat there longer than 24 hours.
We read that queue every day. We aim to act within 24 hours, and we always act within 72.
Acting means one of three things:
- We remove the account. It disappears from the Tonight feed, from likes, and from the plans list, and it can no longer message anyone, ping anyone, or post a plan. Its notifications are cut off and it is signed out.
- We warn it. The account stays, the person is told what has to stop, and the report stays on their record.
- We close the report. Sometimes nothing was broken. We would rather you over-report than sit on something, so a closed report is never held against the person who filed it.
If a report describes a credible threat to someone's safety, we will report it to law enforcement and give them what we hold.
Reports are confidential
The person you report is never told who reported them. They do not see your name, and they do not see that a report exists at all until something happens to their account.
This is built into the database, not just promised here. No member can read a report — including the person who wrote it. You cannot pull up your own report after filing it, and neither can anyone else. That is on purpose: if you could read your own, someone who harasses several people could work out which of them filed. The safety queue is the only reader.
Blocking is just as quiet. Nobody is told they have been blocked.
If you think we got it wrong
Email safety@2night.co from the address on your account and tell us what happened. Removals and warnings are decided by a person, and people make mistakes — if we made one, we reverse it and put your account back the way it was.
You can appeal a warning as well as a removal. There is no form and no deadline.
How long we keep reports
A report is a record about two people, so we do not keep it forever:
- Still open, or being looked at — kept until it is decided. Nothing is ever deleted out from under an unfinished case.
- Closed with no action — deleted 90 days after we close it.
- Acted on — the evidence attached to it is erased after 12 months, and the report itself is deleted after 24 months. Both clocks start the day we decide, not the day you filed.
One routine in our database enforces every one of these periods. It runs automatically every night.
If you delete your 2NIGHT account, reports you filed are unlinked from you. Reports other people filed about you stay, on the schedule above — otherwise anyone could wipe their record by deleting and re-registering. There is more on this in our Privacy Policy.
In an emergency, call for help first.
If you are in danger right now, contact your local emergency services before you contact us. We are one person reading a queue; they can reach you in minutes. Then tell us, so we can act on the account.
