2NIGHT for travelers: one evening, a new city, real people

Travel gives you the purest version of the problem 2NIGHT solves. You have one evening, you know nobody, and every “let's meet up sometime” is meaningless because you leave on Thursday. What you need is to know who is out near your hotel tonight — and a way to say hello that turns into a drink before midnight.

Why tonight-first fits travel

2NIGHT uses a radius around your location and a nightly “Tonight” status that expires at 5 AM; your profile only appears in the feed while you are live, next to other people who are out that night. For a traveller that is exactly the right shape. You do not need a week of chat with someone who lives in the city; you need the three people who are also free tonight within walking distance of where you are standing. The feed's header count is honest, so you also know immediately whether a quiet Tuesday in a small city is worth waiting on or whether it is time to widen the radius.

Travel Mode: go live before you land

On the Gold and Platinum Black tiers, Travel Mode lets you search for any city and set your status there before you arrive. The Tonight Feed re-centres on that city, so you can see who is out in Lisbon while you are still on the train from Porto, and land with a plan instead of a blank evening. The city you pick is stored with your status; when you go back to your real location, one tap on “Use my current location” resets it.

On the free Silver tier there is no Travel Mode, but the app still works the moment you are physically there: go live from the hotel and the feed is your neighbourhood.

Visibility that fits a trip

A “Tonight” status ends at 5 AM, which is perfect for one night out. If you are somewhere for a few days, the “Stay discoverable” control offers 3 days, 1 week or always-on, so you do not have to remember to go live every evening. Those longer options are shown separately from the nightly choice on purpose — they are useful for travellers and quieter cities, and keeping them apart is how the “out tonight” count stays truthful. Whatever you choose, “Hide me” takes you out of every feed in one tap.

Set the radius for the city you are in

The max-distance slider starts at 1 km and is capped at 5 km on Silver, 15 km on Gold and 50 km on Platinum Black. A few practical rules from cities we know (our city guides go street by street for London, New York, Paris, Berlin, Barcelona, Amsterdam, Lisbon and Los Angeles):

• Dense centre (Paris, Lisbon, Barcelona, Zürich): 2–3 km is plenty and keeps every match walkable.
• Spread-out city (Los Angeles, Berlin, the Swiss lakeside towns): 10–15 km on Gold, and lead with a specific neighbourhood in your status line.
• Small town or off-season resort: go wide, choose a longer visibility, and post a Plan so people come to you.

Whatever the radius, other members only see a rounded distance in kilometres, never your hotel's coordinates, and your stored position is blurred to the city centre after about 30 days without going live.

Plans: let the city come to you

A Plan is a public invitation — “rooftop bar by the cathedral, 9:30, come say hi” — that nearby members can join. For a traveller it is often better than a one-to-one date: it is lower pressure, it can bring two or three people together, and it works even when you are not sure yet what you want the night to be. Free members can have one active plan at a time; Gold and Platinum Black can have more, and some plans require Gold to join.

The two-minute video call

Any match can start a two-minute video or voice call, device to device over WebRTC (it never passes through our servers). Abroad, that is worth more than at home: it confirms a real person, checks the language works, and lets you agree a place in half a minute. It is free for everyone during launch.

Safety when you are far from home

2NIGHT does not verify identities and runs no background checks, so the ordinary rules apply, plus a few travel-specific ones:

• Meet in a busy public place you can find your own way back from — not your accommodation, not theirs.
• Tell someone at home your plan, the person's first name and the venue; share your live location with them if you can.
• Keep your passport at the hotel and enough local cash for a taxi.
• Never send money, gift cards or crypto to anyone you met in the app, whatever the story.
• Block (instant, silent, mutual) and report (three reasons, read by a person within 24–72 hours) anyone who makes you uncomfortable — from their profile or the ⋯ menu in a chat.
